With a focus on green design, RD Jones & Associates outfitted each Inn at Penn guest bathroom with a Silhouette™ lighted mirror and built-in nightlight.

After a $9 million renovation focusing on green practices, The Inn at Penn, a Hilton Hotel welcomed guests into newly refurbished and ecologically sustainable rooms in March of 2011. With 250 guestrooms & suites and a AAA Four Diamond rating, The Inn at Penn is one of the most luxurious options when staying in Philadelphia.

Nestled into the University City District, The Inn at Penn is located between some of the University of Pennsylvania’s most prestigious academic buildings. Mere blocks away from the hotel you’ll find the Central Business District, numerous shopping and dining destinations and a plethora of historic sites & museums in one of our nations most notable historical locations.

With a focus on green design, The Inn at Penn uses technology that not only is environmentally responsible, but also augments the luxurious guest experience. By using materials made largely of recycled content, WaterSense showerheads, and lighting & climate control technology, The Inn at Penn is expected to reduce their carbon footprint by 30% annually.

RD Jones & Associates, the designers behind the renovation, approached the project with the intent of bringing in a fresh, modern feel while still providing the classic luxury hotel air and experience. The main area of the guestroom provides ample lounging space surrounded by the elegance of traditional luxury hotel design -- and the theme continues into the bathroom.

Bernard V. Holnaider, Principal at RD Jones & Associates said, “at the bath, RDJA created a luxurious spa-like feel with new clear glass shower enclosures... floor to ceiling tile at the shower enhances the experience. The tile also installed at the floor and vanity side walls has the appearance of natural stone and is light in color to create a light and spacious bath. A back-lit mirror illuminates the highlight of the bath, a custom streamlined vanity with a clean white stone top and vessel sink.” Each of the guestrooms is outfitted with a Silhouette™ lighted mirror with the nightlight to further reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint. The maintenance-free lighted mirrors reduce lamp landfill waste and the nightlight reduces energy usage while providing ambient lighting.

Next time you're in Philadelphia, keep all the beauty and amenities of luxury while losing the carbon footprint. Stay at The Inn at Penn.
