Made in the USA: Silhouette™ Lighted Mirrors Shed New Light on Reinventions and Renovations.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel of White Plains, NY sits in the heart of Westchester County, an historical location of American business and pleasure. Travelers have easy access to airports such as LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark, as well as nearby Manhattan, the national center of business, finance, and the arts. Visitors may also walk across the street to shop at the renowned Westchester Mall, one of the best shopping centers in the United States.

The Crowne Plaza provides such amenities as a custom-tailored event facility for up to 1,000 guests, and unlike the nearby “city that never sleeps,” this 402-room hotel ‘s Sleep Advantage® program ensures guests a full night’s sleep with deluxe bedding options, relaxing CDs, and “Quiet Zone” floors. An indoor swimming pool and Fenimore’s Bistro restaurant are also available.

Manhattan, only 25 miles away, is also the locale of Thomas Edison’s first power station, which first lit up the city skies in 1879. 130 years later, the incandescent bulb has been reinvented (with the introduction of more energy and environmentally-friendly CFL and LED lamps), thus leading to the redesign of bathroom lighting fixtures.

As part of an ongoing renovation of the Crowne Plaza, begun in 2005, owner InterContinental Hotels Group sought out the world leaders in lighted mirror technology, Electric Mirror, to install their Silhouette™ lighted mirrors in the lobby public restrooms.

According to Design and Construction Director Eric Voogd, the Crowne Plaza interior is of “a contemporary transitional design, blended with a traditional theme. This appeals to both the modern traveler, while giving a nod to the rich history of Westchester County. ” The restroom décor features a modern vanity and tile floor pattern, yet vintage wall paper and artwork reminiscent of the Victorian era. Voogd also explains that after trying out two model room designs, they found that the Silhouette™ was the perfect choice to complement either design choice. “It provided the best additional lighting.”

Company President Jim Mischel explains that Electric Mirror takes pride in their ability to provide a great American-made product. The Silhouette™, like the company’s other mirrors, is manufactured at the company’s plant in Everett, WA. “When you buy Electric Mirror products you are using the best products in the industry, supporting US manufacturing jobs and participating in the American recovery.”

When visiting Westchester County, plan to spend a restful night at the Crowne Plaza White Plains, and appreciate a slice of Americana, shed in a whole new light.
