Hotel Bel-Air has been a celebrity favorite for sixty-five years. After a two-year, $100 million renovation lead by Alexandra Champalimaud and Rockwell Group, this iconic hotel is once again welcoming guests into unparalleled lavishness on their secluded eighteen acre pastoral property.

The celebrity favorite Hotel Bel-Air is back to welcoming guestsinto their stunning new design including Northstar™ Waterproof TVs.

With a sixty-five year history as one of the most iconic Los Angeles hotels, hosting A-list celebrity and famous politician clientele, the reopening of Hotel Bel-Air was much anticipated. After a two-year, $100 million renovation, the historic hotel began welcoming guests to newly designed guest rooms and public areas in October of 2011.

Hotel Bel-Air’s history delves deep into the heyday of Tinseltown, having entertained guests ranging from Grace Kelly and Cary Grant to Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O. With their A-list celebrity clientele, and as a member of the Dorchester Collection, owned by the Sultan of Brunei, nothing short of extravagant luxury and the utmost respect for privacy permeates every aspect of the hotel.

The collaboration between Rockwell Group and Champalimaud made superior design inevitable. Throughout public areas, as well as guestrooms, an air of grace and lavishness in every aspect of design continue Hotel Bel-Air’s six-decade legacy. The designers aimed to meld the interiors of the hotel with the extraordinary private gardens—making the experience inside the hotel resonate with a walk through the grounds. Champalimaud chose limestone floors and natural wood ceilings to bring a modern and clean, yet rich and light-filled environment to the guestrooms. The natural wood element flows into RockwellGroup’s design of the Oak Bar tying the themes throughout the hotel together.

With Canoe Hospitality as the purchaser, both Rockwell Group and Champalimaud turned to Electric Mirror® for an expansive array of products featured in both public areas as well as guestrooms. Rockwell Group used a custom Loft™ mirror TV featuring V Mirror technology and a 40” Hospitality TV in the Oak Bar. Champalimaud chose Northstar™ Spa TVs for the guestrooms and suites, making bath time all the more relaxing. When asked why the Northstar™ was chosen, CEO of Canoe Purchasing Steve Higgins said, “I think at the end of the day it had all the bells and whistles that the client was looking for. [Dorchester] wanted to partner with people who can provide the best of what’s available… it’s kind of like the sheer beauty of [the Northstar™].” With additional custom mirror TVs in the Spa and Fitness Center, there’s hardly an area of Hotel Bel-Air without an Electric Mirror® product.

Higgins chose Electric Mirror® because they are the leader in their industry, and he has "a great deal of confidence in their product and company." attesting to the importance of superior customer service, a wide variety of products – including the only UL approved waterproof television. He spoke of the united effort between Electric Mirror, Canoe, and Dorchester, “We’re all forward thinking companies. We’re all in a unique position. It’s a perfect match for these three companies to work together.”
