JW Marriott Chicago, Illinois
Set within a historic building designed by Daniel Burnham, The JW Marriott Chicago invites guests to experience it's luxury and neoclassical design. Marriott International is bringing an old name in luxury hotels to Chicago for the first time after a $396 million renovation lead by Chicago-based architecture firm Lucien Lagrange & Associates and
HPG International.
With over 1,200 products from Electric Mirror®, JW Marriott Chicago opened to much fanfare in November 2010.
In November 2010, the historic Continental & Commerical National Bank Building, designed by renowned architect Daniel Burnham, became home to Marriott International, Inc.’s first luxury brand in Chicago: The JW Marriott Chicago. Set in the heart of Chicago’s financial district, this new hotel introduces a luxurious getaway amidst the bustling metropolis. The esteemed property reopened it’s doors to fanfare and anticipation, and 610 guest rooms after a $396 million renovation which included the installation of over 1,200 Electric Mirror® products.
Chicago-based architecture firm Lucien Lagrange & Associates and interior designers from DiLeonardo, transformed the interior of an already gorgeous Burnham building into a neoclassical masterpiece. With lofted ceilings throughout the hotel, handmade custom moldings throughout the guest rooms, and an abundance of Italian marble around each corner, the hotel flaunts excellence & luxury in every aspect.
Transforming an existing building into a luxury hotel, however, is no easy task. The building presented challenges with a swath of sizes and shapes of rooms, each layout needing to be custom outfitted to fit in guestroom. With a long history in the hospitality industry, and having worked on over fifty projects with Electric Mirror and numerous projects with DiLeonardo, HPG International facilitated the procurement process for the JW Marriott Chicago. In an interview with HPG International CEO Cary Schirmer said, “The JW Marriott Chicago’s most notable purchasing experience was assisting with over fifty different individual room types and layouts in a hotel with 600 plus guestrooms. Our staff had to work with through a myriad of details to scale up and down, adjusting to multiple custom furniture sizes and access routes in order to complete the installation. Even Electric Mirror had to come up with seven different sizes for the guestroom vanity mirrors.”
The JW Marriott Chicago offers the finest amenities and guest services in and outside of the guest rooms, making the hotel perfect for business, celebration, or getaway purposes. The Florentine, a restaurant from the BLT Restaurant Group, offers guests fine Italian-American fare with an adjacent bar and lounge. For those seeking refuge, relaxation, or even a good workout, VALEO spa & fitness center offers every luxury from a Swedish massage or a lap pool, to salon services and a therapeutic whirlpool. In addition, the hotel offers over 44,000 square feet of meeting space and two ballrooms, one with the original Burnham domed ceiling.
Each of the JW Marriott Chicago’s guest room five-fixture bathrooms incorporate Integrity™ lighted mirrors as well as lighted makeup mirrors. In the twenty-nine corner suites, as well as a number of the guest rooms, custom Integrity™ lighted mirror TVs add innovation and illumination to the decor of the bathroom.
When you need a break from the bustling urban streets, take refuge in the historic and luxurious JW Marriott Chicago.
