HD Expo's Radical Innovation in Hospitality award winners WATG Design Consultants displayed a prototype of their Mosaic PATHWAY featuring a Fusion™ SmartMirror™ by Electric Mirror.

Mosaic by WATG uses SmartMirror™ technology

In 2010, WATG Design Consultants won the Radical Innovation in Hospitality award at HDExpo for their concept of portable hospitality with the Mosaic project. In 2011, WATG took the prize money from the award and built a prototype of their Mosaic PATHWAY (Portable Adaptable Temporary Hotel With Alternative You-ses) to display at this year’s HDExpo. With a great deal of media build-up surrounding Mosaic’s debut, the display did not disappoint.

The Mosaic prism is designed to adapt to almost every environment, can stand alone or be linked to other prisms to make a remote luxury resort, a hydroponic greenhouse, medical center or disaster relief shelter. The highly versatile and portable units are customizable to your needs in virtually any context--whether you need a spa for your resort or a hub for your emergency response team. The emphasis with Mosaic is portable, adaptable, hospitality to fit any need.

With a reputation for green work, WATG approached the Mosaic project with environmental responsibility and sustainability in mind. The structure for the prism itself is created out of 95% recycled plastics, polymers, metal and wood. Mosaic can be outfitted to be completely self-sustaining, independent of local resources or it can be set up to interlink with pre-existing local infrastructure.

Featured in the Mosaic PATHWAY prototype that was shown at this year’s HDExpo is a Fusion™ SmartMirror™ by Electric Mirror. The maintenance-free energy efficient lighted mirror is a perfect fit to create a sustainable, beautiful, portable environment. By adding the SmartMirror™ technology with dimming controls as well as timed energy reduction the Mosaic can reduce it’s lighted mirror energy consumption by 85%.

"The Fusion SmartMirror by Electric Mirror was a natural fit in WATG's Mosaic Prototype due to its streamlined design and inherent guest flexibility,” said Grace Machado McClurg, WATG Mosiac Designer. “With such a unique space to work with, we were looking for products that combine multiple applications/uses into one unit. The Fusion SmartMirror does just that, combining light, vanity mirror, and switching into one sustainable and contemporary design. In addition, Electric Mirror is a leading manufacturer in the lit mirror category, making them an ideal choice for our luxury portable hospitality solution."

Electric Mirror is proud to be part of such an innovative, versatile and environmentally responsible project.
